Memory Moments Cafes
Twice a month we host an informal cafe in the church hall. With tea/coffee, home made cakes, and with entertainment from live music through to craft activities. A variety of people attend with some people attending from local care homes to individuals who usually come with a member of their family or carer. The cafes are open for two hours, typically on the first Saturday and third Tuesday of the month (you will find the times and dates of the forthcoming events at the bottom of this page). No booking is required, just turn up on the day, and if you are interested in becoming a volunteer please do get in touch.
Know Dementia is a local charity who supports people with a dementia and their families/carers. The charity is supported by volunteers who have a variety of skills as either qualified professionals or people who have lived and worked with people with a dementia. Know Dementia believe in supporting the whole person and not just their medical condition.

At St Richards we are always looking for ways in which we can support our parishioners and our community and after meeting Jennie & Alex from Know Dementia we came to the conclusion that by working in conjunction with them we would be able to provide ongoing support to our community by opening a 'Memory Moments Cafe'.
In January 2018 we opened our first Memory Moments Cafe and the cafe's are now thriving. Our guests, carers and volunteers all love coming along. In November 2018 we hosted our first 'Saturday' Cafe (which was previously held at the Town Hall). The informal cafes provide a safe place for people with memory problems and their carer or loved ones to come along and enjoy some refreshments, some company, and a bit of laughter.
