Memory Moments Activities
During the Coronavirus we have sadly had to postpone our Memory Moments cafes but we are aware that isolation may be difficult for a lot of people and we wanted to create a place where you could find things to do, watch or participate in whilst isolating to keep active and minds occupied. We hope that some of the following might be useful and we will keep this page updated with new things. If you require dementia or carer support then please scroll to the bottom of the page where you will find some useful contact numbers.
We have added some new videos of actual footage of London back in the 1920's and 1967 which we thought might be interesting.

ACTIVITIES AT HOME
Everyday activities can become difficult for people with Alzheimer’s or dementia but like all of us they still have a need to feel successful and during this period of Covid-19 where isolation is having an effect on us all having activities to do at home can help make a difference to your loved one with dementia. The following activities may be worth trying as the person you are caring for may want to do something and by doing something may have a positive effect on reducing their anxiety.
Create a memory box
A memory box can help a person feel connected to their past, their hobbies or career. Get any kind of box and fill it with things the person will conect to which could be photos, keepsakes, or objects from hobbies.

Create a box of fun fabrics
This can be useful for someone who used to enjoy sewing or fabric crafts. Get a box and put dozens of pieces of assorted fabrics inside. Try to get different colors and a variety of textures like lace, felt, silk, velvet, wool, cotton, etc.

Make a DIY picture puzzle
Print a copy of a favorite family photo or scenery that’s special to the person. You could print out a photo or image they like, like a car, a place they like or family etc. Then laminate the photo and cut it into four (or more) puzzle-piece shaped pieces to make a personalized DIY puzzle.
